Two young Eastern American crows (C.b.b) were taken from their nest at about 2 weeks of age. The nest was located on Stoneleigh-Burnham School property in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The two young birds were raised by the researcher at his home. Audio recordings were taken from the birds throughout their developmental stages. The begging calls from both birds were compared from their earlier stages of life to their release. The researcher analyzed the calls using a power spectrum to analyze the different frequencies of the begging calls. The research suggested that crows undergo a change in voice and behavior as they sexually mature.
