The point of this experiment was to discover if cigarette smoke had any effect on chlorophyll production in African Violets.

I used four plants. Two for the control and two for the experiment. I extracted the chlorophyll from the two control plants. Then the experimental plants were placed in a closed container and exposed to cigarette smoke once a day for ten days. The two control plants were not exposed to the cigarette smoke. After ten days I extracted the chlorophyll again to determine if there was a difference in the amount extracted from the amount in the control plants.

The results showed that the amount of chlorophyll in the plants that were exposed to the cigarette smoke decreased significantly from the amount in the control plants.
